Glory

let your wives keep silent in the assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as the law also says.Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

From this verse, the Word reaches

In parallel with1 Timothy 2:11-12

The same instruction carried into the church's ordinary life: a woman is not to teach or to exercise authority over a man.

“Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection. But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”

In contrast to1 Corinthians 11:5

Paul has already assumed women praying and prophesying in the assembly, so this silence concerns the teaching office rather than a woman's voice existing at all.

“But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonors her head. For it is one and the same thing as if she were shaved. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.”

The ruling given to Corinth and the standing order given to Timothy are one ruling, and Paul grounds both in creation.

“But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”
