Psalm 13
As you read: Honest complaint that ends in trust.
1How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
2How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me?
3Behold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;
4Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; Lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
5But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.
6I will sing to Yahweh, because he has been good to me.
Luke 18:1-8
As you read: Always pray and do not lose heart.
1He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,
2saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.
3A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’
4He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,
5yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”
6The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
7Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
8I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Habakkuk 2:1-3
As you read: It will surely come; it will not delay.
1I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.
2Yahweh answered me, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it.
3For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
As you read: Paul asked three times, and received a better answer.
7By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.
8Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
10Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? Even the psalmist felt God's distance. But the psalm does not end in the silence; it ends in trust: I have trusted in your loving kindness; my heart will rejoice in your salvation.

“But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to Yahweh, because he has been good to me.”Psalm 13:5-6
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent.”Psalm 22:1-2
The vision awaits its appointed time; though it tarries, wait for it, for it will surely come. Paul asked three times to remove the thorn, and the answer was: my grace is sufficient for you. A no can be a deeper yes.

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage. The testing of your faith produces steadfastness, so that you may be perfect and complete. God often works in the waiting, not just in the answer.
“Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.”Psalm 27:14
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”James 1:2-4
“Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been put to grief in various trials, that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—”1 Peter 1:6-7
Jesus told a parable to show that we should always pray and not give up, and He reasoned from the lesser to the greater: if the unjust judge grants justice, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night? Keep knocking.

“He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’ and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’? I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.”Luke 11:5-8
