After His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father: reigning, interceding for His people, preparing a place for them, and waiting to return. He is Lord of all right now.

Acts 1:1-11
As you read: Taken up before their eyes, and promised to come again in the same way.
1The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,
2until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.
3To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God’s Kingdom.
4Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.
5For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6Therefore when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
7He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.
8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”
9When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing,
11who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”
Hebrews 7:23-28
As you read: Because He lives forever, His priesthood is permanent: He intercedes for His people.
23Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
24But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
25Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.
26For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.
28For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
John 14:1-6

1“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.
2In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
3If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.
4Where I go, you know, and you know the way.”
5Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
16For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
17then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
18Therefore comfort one another with these words.
After His resurrection, Jesus was taken up into heaven, and Scripture says He 'sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.' The right hand is the place of honor, authority, and rule. He did not vanish into retirement; He was exalted to the throne.

“His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”Hebrews 1:3

'He is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.' The risen Christ is at the Father's right hand pleading for you, and He is our advocate when we sin.

“Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”Romans 8:34

Jesus told His disciples not to be troubled: 'In my Father's house are many homes. If it weren't so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.' His absence from our sight is not His absence from our story; He is making ready for us.
“In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.”John 14:2-3
The angels at the ascension promised: 'This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.' At His return the dead in Christ will rise and he will gather His people, and so we wait for Him with hope.
