Glory · Our Walk with Him
Now that you belong to Christ, the life of faith begins: follow Him, abide in Him, be changed into His likeness, love His people, bear witness to His grace, and grow in the knowledge of Christ. Not to earn salvation, but because of it.

John 15:1-8
As you read: The secret of the whole Christian life: remaining in Christ so His life flows through you.
1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.
2Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
5I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
6If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
8“In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.
Colossians 3:1-14
As you read: Seek the things above; put on compassion, kindness, humility, love.
1If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.
2Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.
3For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.
5Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
6for which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
7You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;
8but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.
9Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,
10and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,
11where there can’t be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.
12Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;
13bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.
14Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
Matthew 28:16-20
As you read: The risen King sends His people out, and promises to be with them always.
16But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them.
17When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.
18Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
19Go,and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
John 13:34-35
As you read: The mark of discipleship: love that mirrors His.
34A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another.
35By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Following is not a one-time decision but the shape of a whole life: 'If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.' His sheep 'hear his voice… and the sheep follow him.' It is a walk, not a moment.
“He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross,and follow me.”Luke 9:23
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”John 10:27
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”Matthew 16:24
Jesus is the vine and we are the branches: 'Remain in me, and I in you… apart from me you can do nothing.' Abiding means staying connected to Christ, through His word, prayer, and obedience, so that His life flows through us and we bear fruit that remains.
“Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”John 15:4-5
“If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. “In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.”John 15:7-8
The Spirit transforms us 'into the same image, from glory to glory.' In the gospel we are being renewed by the Spirit to reflect Christ, putting on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and love, and being transformed by the renewing of our minds.
“But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.”2 Corinthians 3:18
“Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.”Colossians 3:12-14
“Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.”Romans 12:2
Jesus gave us a new command: 'love one another, just like I have loved you,' and said that by this, everyone will know we are His disciples. We are not meant to walk alone. We gather, we encourage, we carry one another's burdens, and we do not forsake the assembly.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.””John 13:34-35
“Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.”Hebrews 10:24-25
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”Galatians 6:2
The risen Christ sends us: 'Go, and make disciples of all nations.' And He tells us to 'grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.' Saved people tell others about the Savior, and they keep growing in Him, all the way home.
“Go,and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”Matthew 28:19-20
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”2 Peter 3:18
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.””Acts 1:8
