Glory · Our Hope
At the end of the story, God does not abandon creation: He renews it. The new heaven and new earth are the redeemed creation where God dwells with His people, sin and death are gone, every tear is wiped away, and the dwelling of God is with man forever.

Revelation 21:1-8
As you read: God dwelling with men, every tear wiped away, the city that has no temple.
1I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.
2I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
3I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
4He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”
5He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”
6He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
7He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
8But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
Isaiah 65:17-25
As you read: No more weeping; they build and inhabit; the wolf and the lamb feed together.
17“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
18But be you glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
19I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.
20“There shall be no more there an infant of days, nor an old man who has not filled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old, and the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.
21They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.
22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23They shall not labor in vain, nor give birth for calamity; for they are the seed of the blessed of Yahweh, and their offspring with them.
24It shall happen that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,” says Yahweh.
2 Peter 3:10-13
As you read: We look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,
12looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
Romans 8:18-23
As you read: The creation itself will be delivered from its bondage to decay.
18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.
19For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
20For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope
21that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.
22For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.
23Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.
I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. We look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. God does not scrap His creation; He restores it.
“I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more. I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.”Revelation 21:1-2

Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people. The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple, and the glory of God gives it light. The presence of God is the joy of the new creation.
“I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”Revelation 21:3
“I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple. The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.”Revelation 21:22-23
“Yahweh will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahweh will be one, and his name one.”Zechariah 14:9
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor pain, for the former things have passed away. The voice of weeping will be heard in it no more. The last enemy, death, is no more.
“He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.””Revelation 21:4
“I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.”Isaiah 65:19
“The last enemy that will be abolished is death.”1 Corinthians 15:26
They will build houses and inhabit them, and they will not labor in vain. The kings of the earth bring their glory into it. Creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay. This is our hope: not escape from creation, but the healing of creation.
“They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, nor give birth for calamity; for they are the seed of the blessed of Yahweh, and their offspring with them.”Isaiah 65:21-23
“The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there), and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.”Revelation 21:24-26
“that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.”Romans 8:21
